Hillard Gates Basketball Handbook 1942

Description:

This booklet is very cool and it all about Indiana Basketball. It was developed with support of Hillyard Gates and WOWO and WGL Radio in joint effort with Peter Eck-rich and Sons Company. You know Ech-rich as the company that makes hotdogs. However, they also should be know for this cool booklet, which discusses Marion Crawley and Washington, Indiana's state title in 1941. It provided some Indiana High School basketball history and even talks a little but of Big 10 basketball, showing images of Purdue's Ward Lambert and Indiana University Coach Branch McCracken. Hilliard Gates was an American sportscaster who was widely regarded as the founding father of Indiana sports broadcasting and the leading sportscaster in Indiana for decades. At the time this booklet was made, he was only 27 years old. He died at the age of 80 in late 1996.

Rare Album Postcard Acquired - March 1, 2016

Recently, I came across a surprising find - the 1928 Cuban Aguilitas Album Redemption postcard. When I've seen these in the past, they have always been baseball related. This one is basketball themed and shows the same image as card #397, the HNOS Maristas. The seller of this item said he found it in Cuba three decades ago. It is a nice and une...
